THE LINK BETWEEN TEETH AND ORGANS

Meridian system

The meridian system is a concept from traditional Chinese medicine that describes the connections between teeth and organ functions. It postulates that certain teeth correspond with certain organs and that disharmonies in the oral cavity can have an effect on the connected organs. These links have a holistic effect on the person’s health and serve as a basis for dental and energy-related treatment approaches.

The Dental Meridian System

Our body is an interconnected network where teeth, organs, and joints influence one another. The following charts show how dental health connects with both the musculoskeletal system and the body’s internal organs — offering a holistic view of balance and wellbeing.

Tooth Connections with Joints and Muscles

The human body functions as one unified system — every tooth communicates with muscles, joints, and posture through subtle electrical and energetic pathways.
This chart illustrates how specific teeth are connected to joints such as the knees, shoulders, and spine. When imbalance or inflammation occurs in one area, tension can spread along these meridian lines. Understanding these patterns helps reveal the root causes of chronic joint or muscle pain — not only where it hurts, but why.

Tooth Connections with Internal Organs

Each tooth is also connected to internal organs through the body’s meridian network. A disturbance in a single tooth can affect organs like the heart, liver, or kidneys — and vice versa.
This chart visualizes these organ–tooth relationships, demonstrating how oral health plays a vital role in overall well-being. Recognizing these links enables a truly holistic approach to healing — strengthening both dental and systemic health in harmony.
